Day 8- ("Lady Slipper" 8x 10" Watercolor) Today I painted a lady slipper that was in my backyard. I noticed this morning how many were popping up! I took a picture of this with my cellphone and worked from the picture as the mosquitoes are unbearable right now at my house. I found a new reason to love my Ipad, as I was able to work right from the photograph without printing the picture. The top of the Lady Slipper looks like a lady, I thought to myself as I was painting this. They are a lovely orchid.
I did wonder whether the imagery was deliberately metaphoric or whether it just turned out that way. I love the way the colors blend together.
